How to identify this edition
These points tell this edition apart from other printings and editions of The Mandelbaum Gate.
✓ Copyright page: "FIRST EDITION", centred below "Copyright © 1965 by Muriel Spark" and the Borzoi Book / Alfred A. Knopf statement.
✓ Title page: "New York / Alfred A. Knopf / 1965".
✓ Later printings: no "FIRST EDITION"; the printing is stated instead (a 4th printing is dated 1966).
✓ Price: $5.95 at the top of the front flap (unclipped). Later printings kept $5.95 (a 4th printing of 1966 has it too), so the price alone doesn't prove a first: check the copyright page.
